It’s déjà vu all over again. Another month and another “All Candidates Meeting”. This month OPSRRA will be holding a meeting for all of the Provincial Juan de Fuca/ Malahat candidates. The meeting will take place on Sunday October 18, from 2pm to 4pm at the JdF local area services building at #3-7450 Butler Road in Otter Point. There are five people running for election.
Jeff Brown – Christian Heritage Party of BC
David Evans – Green Party
Shane Frieson – One BC Party
Mike Hicks – BC Conservative Party
Dana Lajeunesse – New Democratic Party
Congratulations to all candidates for running for election. As of October 4th we have confirmation of attendance from the NDP, Green, and Conservative parties. Invitations have gone out to the other two candidates as well. It should be a lively meeting if we have all five at the table. The only downside is that questions and answers will have to be shorter than some may like in order to let all candidates respond .
We are gathering questions so if you wish to submit your question please write to info@opsrra.ca with the title “question for MLA”
Elsewhere in OPSRRA we are doing quite well with membership, both personal and business, thanks to our membership Director Lynn Moss. Volunteers around the area are keeping our bulletin boards up to date, thank you. The board on King Road was completely redone and painted by Murray Tomkins and returned to its post. This autumn has become busy with two elections and after the final election on October 24 it will be only three more weeks until the OPSRRA semi-annual meeting in Shirley where Wayne Jackaman is the presenter.
Weather predictions call for warmer than usual this time of year and the rain has been put on pause. Please remember the lack of moisture if you plan any outside burning before the beginning of November. Even if the fire rating is “low” the lack of rain all summer continues to make fire possible in our forests.
