In spite of several power outages, this past holiday season was warm and wet for most of our region.  There are buds on some bushes and the odd flower has burst forth in all hope that spring has arrived.  But it hasn’t; we still have a couple of months where the weather can still turn back to winter.  The highway accidents which caused a few of our power losses are a reminder to always drive for the road conditions.

Coming up this year, OPSRRA will be hosting our MP Stephanie McLean for a Town Hall on February 15 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Juan de Fuca Services building hall.  Her riding is called the Esquimalt-Saanich- Sooke riding and it officially covers our area up Uglow Creek and Pete Wolf creek north of Jordan River and then south in a narrow band down the coast to Sooke and the rest of the riding. OPSRRA is looking for questions from its members to send to our MP before the Town Hall. If you have a question which falls within Federal jurisdiction please send it to OPSRRA at info@opsrra.ca

We need to know the approximate number of participants as the hall will hold only about 70 people. If you are interested in attending, please email your RSVP to info@opsrra.ca to have your name(s) added to our list.

Turning to more local government, the CRD is looking for input on its most recent budget. Feedback is requested by February 23rd, 2026.

OPSRRA looks forward to 2026. The usual round up of maintenance to our community bulletin boards and some new signs for our larger highway signs are on our list. We are working to integrate our new Director to the Board and we are advocating on your behalf for services in our area.  If you have new, or old, concerns please send them to info@opsrra.ca  As always, we are looking for people who might want to join our Board  at the April 2026  AGM elections and help us help you.

Happy New Year from all of us on the Board to you.
