OPSRRA is off and running for the New Year.  We are planning a meeting in February, the AGM in April, and a Town Hall with our new MLA in the summer. We’re looking forward to another active and exciting year working with our communities.

A special thank you to the people who signed the “No Biosolids” petition this summer.  We asked for a 100 names and signed up 109.  This information has been passed on to our Director Al Wickheim for his information should he have the opportunity to discuss Biosolids again with the CRD.  Thanks Al.

For those of you travelling Otter Point Road from the JdF building to Hwy 14, we have talked with the Ministry of Transportation & Transit (MOTT) to have a new centre line painted to increase the safety and usability of this frequently travelled route. We have been assured that this is on their list for Spring 2025.

Since the AGM last spring, we currently have 298 members including 7 new and 22 renewals. As of March 2024, we had a current membership of 301: Jordan River-19, Shirley-74 and Otter Point-208. If your membership is due, please renew since we need your support to continue to serve our community.

Our growing community needs you. Your OPSRRA Board needs your help in filling Director positions for the AGM in April, 2025.  Many hands and ideas make our work easier.  If you want more information about OPSRRA and about volunteering as a Director please contact Chris Moss (President) at president@opsrra.ca  and let me know.  Duties are light and we meet once a month virtually for about an hour.

Further Board information – including current board members and roles – can be found here.

For those that missed OPSRRA’s previous presentations on rainwater harvesting – a timely subject given the weather – Ken Nentwig will be offering two rainwater information sessions for the Sooke Region Lifelong Learning in January 2025.  As always SRLL session are free and these two will take place at the Sooke Library.  Registration information can be found here. Or feel free to bone up on the subject before the meeting with the OPSRRA presentation from 2023.

Some of the community bulletin boards need sprucing up this Spring and we will try to build one new board for the mailboxes at Poirier Lake.  That one has been on our list for a couple of years.

Have great start to the New Year everyone.
